    This coin was issued under Duke William de la Roche (1280-1287 AD), in

    A Crusader state in Greece.
    The Duchy of Athens was one of the Crusader states set up in Greece
    after the conquest of the Byzantine Empire
    during
    the Fourth Crusade
    as part of the process known as
    Frankokratia,
    encompassing of the region of Attica and Boeotia, and
    surviving until
    its conquest by the Ottoman Empire in the
    15th century.
    The Duchy occupied the Attic peninsula as well as Boeotia and expanded into Thessaly, sharing an undefined border with
    Thessalonica and then Epirus.
